Questions & answers

The quick fixes, grouped by topic.

Muse Pro & purchases

What comes with Muse Pro?

Muse Pro syncs your library across your devices with your Muse account, connects your AI apps to your shelf, and lets you make Home yours with backgrounds, templates and title styles. It adds version history so you can undo changes, and turns off ads. Pro comes with your Muse account, so it works in every Muse app.

Which plans are there?

Monthly, yearly, or a one-time lifetime purchase. The yearly plan starts with a free week if you haven't had a Muse Pro trial before. You'll see the price in your currency before you confirm, and you pay through your Apple account.

How do I cancel or change my plan?

On iPhone, open Settings › your name › Subscriptions and choose Muse Shelf, or in Muse open Muse Pro › Manage subscription.

Cancel at least 24 hours before the renewal date to avoid the next charge. You keep Pro until the end of the period you paid for. Deleting the app or your Muse account doesn't cancel a subscription.

I paid, but Pro isn't showing

Sign in to the same Muse account you bought Pro with, then tap Settings › Restore purchases. Check that the App Store is signed in with the Apple Account you paid with. Still stuck? Send feedback from the app and I'll sort it out.

Can I get a refund?

Apple handles payments and refunds for App Store purchases. You can ask for one at reportaproblem.apple.com.

I bought Remove Ads in an earlier version

It still counts. Settings › Restore purchases brings it back and keeps ads off. Muse Pro is a separate upgrade with its own features.

I have an offer code

Sign in to your Muse account first so Pro stays with it, then open Muse Pro › Redeem a code.

Your library & account

Where is my library kept?

On your device. A Muse account is optional: sign in with Apple, Google or an email code to keep your shelf in the cloud and sync it across devices with Muse Pro. Signing in never uploads your library unless you choose to.

How do I back up or move my library?

Settings › Export backup saves a file you can keep anywhere. To bring it back, open Settings › Import a list and choose the file. Muse adds it to your library.

Can I undo a change?

With Muse Pro, Settings › Version history & undo shows recent changes to your cloud library and lets you go back.

How do I delete my Muse account?

Open Settings › Muse account › Delete account. It permanently deletes your account and what's stored with it: your cloud library and covers, version history, AI connections and feedback. The library on your device stays. If you subscribe to Muse Pro, cancel it in your Apple account too.

Bringing your library

Which apps can I import from?

Letterboxd, Goodreads, TV Time, IMDb and StoryGraph, from their export files, plus Serializd and Backloggd, by copying your list. Choose Settings › Import a list, or pick your app while you set up Muse.

How do I get my export file?
  • Letterboxd: on letterboxd.com, open Settings › Data › Export your data, then choose the .zip in Muse.
  • Goodreads: open My Books › Import and export › Export library, then choose the .csv.
  • TV Time: ask TV Time for a copy of your data, then choose the gdpr-data.zip it sends.
  • IMDb: open Your ratings or Your watchlist, tap ⋯ › Export, then choose the .csv from Your exports.
  • StoryGraph: open Manage account › Export StoryGraph library, then choose the .csv.
  • Serializd and Backloggd: they don't have export files yet. Open your list on their website, select it all, copy it, and paste it into Muse.
Covers and details are still filling in

After a big import, Muse looks up artwork and details in the background, a few titles at a time. Everything you imported is already saved; give it a little while with the app open.

Explore, details & alerts

Where do Explore and the details come from?

Movies and TV come from TMDB, games from IGDB, anime and manga from TMDB and AniList, and music, books and podcasts from Apple. A small badge on each list and title shows its source.

A title has the wrong cover or details

Open the title and tap its cover to change it, or the pencil to edit the details. Settings › Refresh missing metadata fills in anything that's missing across your library.

I'm not getting release or episode alerts

Check Settings › Release alerts, and turn on New episodes and Season premieres for shows you're watching. Then make sure notifications are allowed in iPhone Settings › Notifications › Muse Shelf.

Troubleshooting

Explore or search isn't loading

Check your connection, then pull down on Explore to refresh. If it keeps happening, send feedback and mention which category you were browsing.

Something looks broken

Update Muse Shelf from the App Store, then close and reopen it. Still wrong? Send feedback from Settings › Feedback. It helps to mention your device, your iOS version, and what you were doing right before.
